What is Traveler’s Company?
Traveler’s Company is a stationery brand founded in Japan in 2006. Its original name was ‘Midori’, but in 2015 it was rebranded as Traveler’s Company. It all began with one product: the Traveler’s Notebook, a portable, sturdy and durable leather-bound notebook, perfect for carrying with you at all times for years to come. Designed to withstand the rigours of everyday life and adapt to your needs, this notebook evolves as you use it. Its marks, creases and the patina of the leather tell your story, whether you’re thousands of kilometres away or in your own home, and make it as unique as you are. The brand’s philosophy is rooted in travel as a way of life – a journey of discovery, of keeping an open mind, and of being curious about everything around you. Its products are created to improve with the passage of time, developing character through use. In this way, imperfection is embraced and natural ageing is valued. Going against the current consumerist trend, Traveler’s Company does not launch new models every year; the idea is for the customer to buy a single notebook that will last for many years and only need to replace the refills when they are full. What matters about the notebook is not its appearance, but the stories it contains.

Traveler’s Notebook
As we have said, the product around which the brand revolves is a notebook with a naturally tanned leather cover, handmade in Chiang Mai, in northern Thailand. Its hallmark is its simplicity, the precision of the leather cut, the character it acquires through use, and the excellent quality of its materials. Its design, featuring elastic bands, allows the inserts to be replaced once they are full. These inserts are carefully manufactured in Japan using original MD writing paper, highly prized by those who write with fountain pens, pencils or ink due to its resistance to ink bleed-through and its smooth texture. It is available in two sizes:- Regular Size: 220 x 120 mm (the inserts measure 210 x 110 mm). This is the most popular size. Perfect for use as a diary or journal, for drawing, taking notes, making collages, etc.
- Passport Size: 134 x 105 mm (the inner booklets measure 124 x 89 mm). Similar in size to a passport, it’s ideal for carrying around with you at all times as a travel journal, for making lists, small sketches, recording expenses, etc.

Spiral-bound notebook
Traveler’s Company also offers spiral-bound notebooks manufactured near Tokyo. They are durable, practical and versatile. Their hardback cover, which allows you to write without a stand, is made from resin, and the ring-binding process is carried out by hand. They are available in white paper, perfect for writing; kraft paper, which has a rough texture and is a favourite for pencil sketches or scrapbooking; paper pockets, for storing all sorts of mementos; window envelopes; watercolour paper; or transparent sleeves on a kraft backing. Each type of paper is marked with an embossed animal icon on the cover, making them easily identifiable. The different sizes include A5, A6 or B6, depending on the type of paper they contain.Brass accessories
To make your experience truly exceptional, Traveler’s Company has created a range of brass products specifically designed for use with your notebooks. Like leather, brass is a material that changes with use; its colour and texture evolve over time. Their strength does not lie in technology, but rather in their design, which is based on functional minimalism, where every element serves a purpose and natural ageing is celebrated. All this makes Traveler’s Company’s Brass collection a benchmark in the premium stationery sector. This range includes fountain pens, ballpoint pens, mechanical pencils, rollerball pens, paper clips, rulers, pencil cases and more. All are manufactured in Japan using entirely traditional craftsmanship, and every detail of each product is checked before it goes on sale. The result is pieces of extraordinary quality that buyers undoubtedly appreciate.

Long-lasting quality and beauty
Wabi-sabi is a Japanese concept that links beauty to the passage of time, such as the patina of metal, the creases in leather, and marks. It teaches us to accept the traces of time and the value they hold, as they form part of the natural cycle. When you purchase a product from Traveler’s Company, you are valuing authenticity, the quality of the materials and impeccable design. A product that will create a story alongside you because it is made to last.Products related to this post
