While there are many brands selling watercolours today, few meet the highest quality standards. In other words, these are watercolours developed by and for artists.

A. Gallo is an Italian brand that specialises in manufacturing and selling some of the world's finest natural pigment watercolours. The company is renowned for its history, market innovation, professionalism, and attention to environmental detail.

The artisanal production of A. Gallo watercolours

They are produced using traditional methods based on an ancient formula. The paints are made from pure pigments mixed with acacia gum, honey from Umbria and rosemary essential oil.

Production begins with the main ingredient: the binder. The Kordafan gum arabic used comes from acacia trees in Senegal and is composed of pure crystals or pieces. These are dissolved in distilled water for over a day. The mixture is then filtered several times until all impurities are removed. The mixture is then combined with glycerine and other natural ingredients that give it anti-cracking, antioxidant and antifungal properties.

These watercolours contain no cadmium, cobalt, lead, or mercury. They are completely environmentally friendly, which is essential in today's world.

Natural and environmentally friendly pigments

The pigment particles are dispersed in the binder through grinding. They are then mixed with a spatula, transferred to a bottle and left to stabilise. This process produces highly pigmented, light-resistant paint with a spectacular luminous effect thanks to its good water activation.

The pigments are poured manually into pots one by one and refilled several times a day for four to five weeks while they dry. The pots are then individually packaged with labels that are hand-painted with the watercolour itself, providing a preview of the actual colour being purchased without the risk of error that can occur with digital colour samples. These watercolours then undergo final refinement and quality checks to eliminate any imperfections, after which a code is added manually.

At A. Gallo Colours, inspiration comes from the history of pigments used by artists from different cultures and a deep passion for intercultural painting techniques. This is reflected in their exceptional range of pigments, including yinmn blue, lapis lazuli, madder rose and malachite.

These watercolours can be purchased individually, in pans or tubes, or in sets containing between six and 48 pieces. Empty palettes are also available, allowing you to create your own colour palette. You can choose between metal and wooden palettes. The latter are distinguished by their semi-circular shape and consist of three parts: a palette, pans and brushes.

A. Gallo has been part of the watercolour industry since 2017 and stands out for the quality and excellence of its products, making it a favourite brand among artists worldwide.
