Winsor & Newton Safflower Oil Additive Medium 75ml

• This water-mixable safflower oil is extracted from the seeds of the safflower plant and has been modified so that it can be mixed with water. This oil makes the colours ‘oilier’, which means it increases the consistency and body of the paint. It also slows down drying time and stabilises the paint film.

• This oil is particularly recommended for use with light, pale and bright colours. Its light colour preserves the luminosity of the pigments, preventing unwanted changes in the paint’s tones.

• One of the advantages of this oil is that it can be easily cleaned with soap and water, avoiding the need for harsh chemicals or toxic solvents. This makes it a safer and more environmentally friendly option for artists who prefer to avoid using strong chemicals.

• Water-mixable safflower oil is an excellent choice for artists who wish to work with oil but are looking for an alternative that is easier to clean up and less toxic. It offers greater versatility when handling the paint, allowing for greater fluidity and blending in the artwork.

• In summary, water-mixable safflower oil is a recommended option for artists who wish to increase the consistency and body of their colours without the use of toxic solvents. Its ability to mix with water makes cleaning easier and offers a safer, more environmentally friendly alternative.
