An Andy Warhol Coloring Book
"For children of all ages to colour and paint. You might want to frame these drawings or maybe send them to someone you want to make happy." (Andy Warhol)
"On a landing of the Empire State Building, in front of a shoe manufacturer's door, stood a young man with Jackson Pollock-like shoes (badly stained with paint); he wore a wrinkled black suit, his portfolio, and had a shock of white hair. Andy Warhol had some sketches for the same client we were going to show new furs to. It was 1953 and our company, Fleming-Joffe Ltd., was in the business of dyeing snake, crocodile and lizard skins. But we needed someone to help us define ourselves, beyond mere merchandise, as a company that created a fashionable product. 'A job in New York,' he said, 'Wow.' And that was the start of a collaboration the memory of which still inspires us. We went on a creative binge together, with no ego issues, just a natural excitement that everything would work out. Andy turned our dreams into reality: from ads for Vogue to our corporate bags, from an all-metal trade show booth to a colouring book we gave to our clients for their children (he did the cover collage and drew on our exotic catalogue, which he loved, for the plates). Andy abhorred snobbery; he liked good company. With rare exceptions, when he intervened in conversations it was to say 'ah', 'yes', 'no' and 'when'. He worked with us for almost ten years. One job. New York. Gee." (Arthur and Teddy Edelman)
