• Following the popularity of acrylic colours, which dry in 10 to 20 minutes, oil painters began to demand a product that dried faster than traditional oils. Winsor & Newton responded in 1976 by developing a range of alkyd colours, which today has become Griffin fast drying alkyd oil colours.
• Alkyds are made from a naturally occurring vegetable oil that polymerises. The result is a resin-like product that, when mixed with a solvent, is very similar to traditional linseed oil.
• The colours remain workable for 4 to 8 hours and dry to the touch within 18 to 24 hours.
• They are formulated with the highest quality materials and are also ideal for thick impasto and underpainting techniques.
• Consistent drying times across the range eliminate the usual restrictions that come with conventional oils, making painting easier, regardless of the surface colour.
• The set contains 6 colours: Phtalo Blue, Yellow Ochre, Titanium White, Ivory Black.
