• Phoenix art canvases are made of cotton, linen, synthetic fibre and jute. All raw materials are high quality long fibre from Sinkiang and China, Harbin, India, Belgium and others.
• The raw woven fabric is subjected to strict inspection for each square metre to locate possible defects, test tensile strength and check grammage.
• Only the fabric that meets their standard is allowed to pass to the production line for the four layers of primer to be applied to the fabric, each of which has a different formula and fulfils a specific function:
• - The first coat is clear glue and fills all the pores so that subsequent coats do not penetrate the fabric.
• - After drying, the second layer, the "base coat", is applied.
• - After drying again, the third layer of primer is applied, which acts as a "face coating" and must also be dried.
• - The fourth layer is made taking into account the characteristics of the canvas and the customer's needs.
• - After the four primers and their respective drying, the canvases are sanded to remove any nodules and ensure that the surface is ready for painting.
• - The last step is the manufacturing of the canvas rolls according to the customer's needs.
• The production process is carried out by means of modern machines, but in accordance with traditional methods. In this way, we combine precision, technology and tradition to achieve an excellent level of quality.

• Characteristics of the universal primer for Phoenix canvases:
• - High quality acrylic primer, neutral, non-toxic, medium absorbency and suitable for both oil and acrylic.
• - Excellent surface texture with full coverage primer.
• - The surface grain texture is eggshell with excellent brush feel and paint absorption.
• - The transparent glue layer both penetrates deep into the fabric and fixes the second coat.
• - The resin applied evenly to the primer increases its adhesion. The surface of the primer contains a highly absorbent powder that strongly fixes the paint components with this base.
• - The three layers of primer are resistant to oil or water and therefore do not crack. In order to guarantee a short drying time, the oil and water used must be used properly. The resin in the primer guarantees vivid and stable colours.
• The cotton-polyester fabrics are made of excellent long-staple cotton and polyester fibres. Advanced technical treatments achieve a higher strength and elasticity than pure cotton.
• The Star cotton canvas fabric with polyester reinforcement for better elasticity and to avoid the deformations that the tension of the frame can cause over time, is the most versatile and perfect for professionals.
• Contains classic universal primer suitable for acrylic, oil and gouache paints.
