Linoleum plank

• Linoleum is carved in the same way as a wooden block, but much more easily, as it is a softer material.
• The surface to be printed will be the areas of the linoleum that we have left intact, while we will remove the areas that we want to be left blank.
• The technique is called "embossing", because the images are the result of inking a plate on which the drawing is in relief.
• Another characteristic that you should bear in mind when using this technique is that the image that will be seen on the paper will be the opposite of how you have drawn it on the linoleum sheet.
• It is very appropriate to achieve images of great expressive force, with thick and aggressive strokes, especially if you use black ink on light-coloured paper.
• The colour of the plate can vary (brown or grey).
