Gesso Additive Basics 1,89L Liquitex

• Gesso is a product used as a sealer and white primer to prepare absorbent surfaces, such as canvas, paper or wood, to receive acrylic or oil paints.

• It provides a suitable base coat with the surface size, toothing and absorbency required to work with these paints.

• Traditional gesso comes in opaque titanium white, which is ideal for good coverage of subsequent coats of paint. In general, one coat of gesso is usually sufficient to prepare the surface before starting to paint.

• If you are working with oil colours, it is recommended to apply two coats of gesso before applying the colour. This helps to provide a more stable and durable surface for oil paints, as oil can be more corrosive to underlying materials.

• Remember to follow the instructions of the manufacturer of the gesso you are using, as specific recommendations may vary depending on the brand and type of gesso.
