It contains cellulose fibres, which gives it a velvety finish and means that fixative is often not necessary. You can apply multiple coats, it reduces the amount of dusting and colours stay fresh and vibrant. They are water resistant, so wet techniques such as watercolour or acrylics can be applied. Acid-free, lightfast, it retains all its properties after erasing or wetting. PastelMat may arrive with some small stains or discolouration due to its manufacturing process. Talc stains can be removed with a stiff brush or craft knife. Each sheet of the PastelMat pad is protected with a thin layer of glassine paper. The sheets are glued at the top.
