Where to find inspiration for creating cartoon characters

Cartoonists can find inspiration for their characters by looking at the people around them. Christopher Hart, the author of the world's best-selling educational books on drawing and animation, takes you neighbourhood by neighbourhood to observe the most inventive character types in their everyday environment.

Following Hart's detailed, step-by-step instructions, you'll draw the classic cartoon family; the wacky suburban residents; the wealthy mansion dwellers; and the most eccentric and amusing figures you'll find in the big city. Learn to use body language, gestures, costumes and everyday actions to create absurd and extravagant characterisations.
