This book brings together nearly 200 photographs of Madrid from the middle of the last century, taken by Manuel Urech, one of the most outstanding photojournalists of his generation.

As the city grew at a steady but disorderly pace, Urech, for 30 years the graphic editor of the now defunct Madrid newspaper, dedicated himself to portraying the pulse of that effervescent city at street level, pursuing events with the spirit of a journalist and the eye of an artist.

After his death in 1985, for the first time a small part of Urech's archive, made up of more than 100,000 negatives, comes to light in a publication, recovering unknown scenes of an unprecedented and endearing city, a city worth preserving in the album of our lives.
