The Summers of Sorolla
Catalogue of the exhibition to be held at the Sala Recoletos, Fundación MAPFRE, Madrid, from 22 September 2023 to 7 January 2024 This catalogue includes a wide selection of works representative of all the themes of the accompanying exhibition.
Of particular note is the inclusion of Melilla, a series of photographs taken by the artist at the end of 2022, the result of a commission by Fundación MAPFRE for the exhibition.
It also includes an interview with the artist by Victoria del Val, curator of the project, as well as critical essays by the specialists in migration and photographic studies, Ilsen About and Ernst Van Alphen, and the historian of photography Luce Lebart.
