The perfect subject for a graphic novel, Frida Kahlo's brief life was dramatic and romantic, tragic and painful. In this illustrated biography, Vanna Vinci captures the spirit of Kahlo's world with vibrantly coloured illustrations and meticulous detail.

Mixing historical facts with dreamlike and surreal sequences, Vinci creates an intimate portrait of an artist who transformed her experiences into art. Burning love and heartbreaking loss, immense joy and deep despair: all these elements were part of Kahlo's life and are reflected in her paintings, some of the most celebrated in the history of art.

Replete with images that populated Kahlo's work - monkeys and parrots, traditional dress and lush gardens - Vinci imbues his text and drawings with an artist's own perception and sensitivity. The result is an evocative and passionate tribute to a legendary figure.
