Arches satin-finish watercolour paper roll 300 g/m² 113x914cm
Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, a painter who showed a great sensitivity for the material and was eager to try out various drawing and watercolour techniques, was the inspiration for ARCHES®.
The paper, produced in a circular form using the traditional method, has a quality that resembles that of handmade paper.
The slow rotation of the cylinder facilitates the regular arrangement of the fibres and their distribution in all directions on the canvas.
In this way, the paper is uniform and has good dimensional stability. Only the circular production process makes it possible to obtain paper with fringes.
With an embossed texture, the embossed marks give the paper an outstanding surface that preserves the finer nuances of the line, as well as giving body and depth to the work.
This paper is recognised for its exceptional qualities in fine art schools all over the world. It is the paper of choice for 19th century French artists (e.g. Georges Seurat's charcoal drawing).
The surface of the paper is gelatinised, which limits its absorbency (the ink does not run) and ensures the resistance of the fibres.
The result is optimal even after repeated corrections. In addition, it has an alkaline reserve, without acid or optical brightening agents (complies with ISO 9706), which makes it permanent.
This paper is strong and light at the same time, with an excellent texture. It is ideal for expressing your creativity on a high-performance academic medium.
