The use of highly concentrated charcoal and graphite powders intensifies the darkness, while the oils ensure a smooth and consistent application and perfect adhesion of the pigments to the paper.
• The intensity and ease with which it transfers to the support is linked to the quality of the raw materials and the carefully controlled manufacturing process.
• It produces an extraordinarily defined stroke, capable of uniformly covering any paper surface, making it ideal for sketches and drawings where rapid execution is required.
• While traditional charcoal is easier to erase due to its lower adhesion, Lyra's charcoal pencil is much greasier, which prevents easy erasure but ensures that the line remains solid and well-defined, with a smooth, satin texture.
• To preserve the quality of the drawing, the use of a fixative is recommended, especially in works combining different techniques and media.
• It is advisable to sharpen the tip with a sharp knife or sandpaper to avoid the lead becoming brittle when using sharpeners.
• The round body of Mexican cedar wood is lacquered in an elegant graphite grey colour, and the lead is 5 mm.
