• Phoenix art canvases are made of cotton, linen, synthetic fiber and jute. All raw materials are high quality long fiber from Xinjiang and China, Harbin, India, Belgium, etc.
  The raw woven fabric is subjected to strict inspection per square meter for possible defects, test the tensile strength and check its grammage.
• Only the fabric that meets your standard will be able to proceed to the production line to have the four primer coats applied to the fabric, each of which has a different formula and fulfills a specific function:
• - The first layer is transparent glue and fills all the pores so that subsequent layers do not penetrate the fabric.
• - After drying the second coat is applied, the “base coat”.
• - Drying again, the third layer of primer is applied, which acts as a “face coating” that must also be dried.
• - The fourth layer is made taking into account the characteristics of the canvas and the needs of customers.
• - After the four primers and their respective drying, the canvases are sanded to eliminate the nodules and ensure that the surface is ready and ready to be painted.
• - The last step is the preparation of the rolls of fabric according to the needs of the clients.
• The production process is carried out using modern machines, although in accordance with traditional methods. Thus, we add precision, technique and tradition, reaching an excellent degree of quality.
• Characteristics of the universal primer for Phoenix canvases:
• - High quality acrylic primer, neutral, non-toxic, medium absorbency and suitable for both oil and acrylic.
• - Excellent surface texture with a full coverage primer.
• - The surface grain texture is eggshell with excellent brush feel and paint absorption.
• - The transparent glue layer both penetrates deep into the tissue and fixes the second layer.
• - Resin applied evenly in the primer increases its adhesion. The surface of the primer contains a highly absorbent powder that strongly fixes the components of the paint with this base.
• - The three layers of primer are resistant to oil or water, so they do not crack. To guarantee a short time for drying, proper use of the oil and the water used must be respected. The resin in the primer guarantees vivid and stable colours.
• ​Jute canvas rolls are made with very thick fibers and a very separate weft. That is why a very thick classic universal primer is necessary.
• Jute is grown in South Asia and particularly in India and Bangladesh. It has a high tensile strength, low extensibility, and ensures better fabric breathability.
• The jute canvas rolls are made of 100% jute. Unlike other industrial or decorative burlaps, it is woven with the constant tension that the frame permanently exerts in mind. Consequently, it thus avoids the deformations that are caused in burlap destined for other uses.
• The burlap fabric, or jute for canvases, stands out for its thick grain and its wide weft, ideal for very large works, muralists.
• Threads: 6 threads/cm - Weft: 6 threads/cm.
• Measurements: 2.10 m wide x 1 m long (minimum).
