Metal box 36 half godet watercolour Naturale A. Gallo
Naturale 36 contains our complete collection of exquisite pigments of mineral, vegetable and natural earth origin, from the Mediterranean basin to the forests of Sumatra, from the mountains of Chile to the volcanoes of Iceland.
Includes our twelve newest natural shades!
FREE! With the purchase of this palette, you will receive a free pack of Fabriano Artistico 300 gsm paper, available from 1-10 March.
Many of the colours in the Naturale Collection are granulants. For intense results, these unique natural pigments work best when pre-moistened with a drop of water.
Exclusive colours in this palette
Stil de grain light - A stunning bright, transparent yellow pigment extracted from buckthorn berries.
Han purple - A historic, grainy and majestic purple pigment, first created in ancient China over 2,500 years ago.
Five of the colours in this extensive palette are made from Japanese Iwa-Enogu mineral pigments. These pigments have undergone a special elutriation process, achieving particles of uniform size and shape. This results in exceptionally light colours with a unique texture. Iron Oxide Orange and Tourmaline are made with individual Iwa-Enogu pigments.
Minerals in the historical pigment base
The trio of historic shades Cinnabar, Azurite and Malachite have been recreated using a mineral base of:
Peach agate for Cinnabar
Sodalite for the Azurite
Amazonite for the Malachite
This mineral base has allowed us to maintain the quality and mineral character of these shades without the use of copper or mercury.
Other featured colours
Genuine Lapis Lazuli, extra fine - A deep, intense blue extracted from this semi-precious stone used in historical painting. We have sourced an exclusive source for our premium extra fine Lapis Lazuli, an exquisite pigment known as Fra Angelico Blue, made by carefully crushing the stone in small batches and selecting the purest pigment.
Genuine Indigo (NB1) - An ancient dye derived from the fermentation of the grey-green leaves and flower stalks of over 30 plant species, including the medicinal shrub Indigofera tinctoria, native to India.
Genuine Granza Red (NR9) - A transparent red pigment obtained from the root of Rubia tinctorum. This dye was used in Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome to dye textiles and, to a lesser extent, to make pigments.
Lilac - A fresh, grainy, delicate purple.
Van Dyck Brown - A single component pigment, made from real German lignite.
Icelandic Red Earth - A semi-transparent pigment with a subtle variation of tones between plum and red ochre. This pigment was collected by David Kremer and landscape painter Peter Lang near the Snæfellsjökull volcano in western Iceland.

Craftsmanship and quality
Handmade in Assisi, A. Gallo watercolours are made according to a traditional recipe with pure pigments, gum arabic, local honey, rosemary essential oil and a wetting agent. This artisanal process results in a highly pigmented and luminous paint, which is wonderfully activated by water.
A. Gallo Colors are 100% handmade. The godets may have small imperfections, such as tiny bubbles or slight marks. This does not affect the quality of the paint and is proof of the handwork behind each unique piece.
Caution: Medium godets pose a choking hazard and are not intended for child use. It is also recommended to keep them out of reach of pets.
Safety and sustainability: All A. Gallo Colors watercolours are free of cadmium, cobalt, lead and mercury.
