Lithography is an engraving technique invented in 1796 by Aloyw Senefelder in Munich and which soon attracted the attention of numerous artists such as Goya, who already in 1819 showed its great possibilities. It is a printing process that consists of reproducing on paper what was drawn with a special ink or grease pencil (lithographic stick) on the surface of a compact and very homogeneous limestone. This calcareous stone is shaped like a thick plate with its two opposite faces parallel and one of them very finely polished and with reduced edges.
