Country birdhouses
This book pays tribute to the most charming of structures: the birdhouse. I have included 15 projects to paint with acrylic paint in a folk art style. Some projects have painted birdhouses or birdhouse cutouts as accessories. Others are actually birdhouses that you can offer to a lucky bird to build a nest. Or, if you feel like you need it as decoration more than the bird, that's fine too. For decoration, glue Spanish moss into the opening to simulate nesting material.
Wood projects can be ordered ready-made or you can make them yourself using this book. Patterns and measurements of the pieces are included.
Every time I design a piece of wood for a painting project, my husband Larry cuts the wood for me. Of course, Larry and I wouldn't need to have so many "discussions" if we could convince him that not everything is supposed to be straight or symmetrical. Sometimes I win, sometimes I don't, but Larry always makes it work so the patterns in the book can be cut with the saw. I hate it when he says,
"A saw blade doesn't bend that way." So rest assured that a wonderful carpenter has thought of it for you.
